Answer to movie number one:

The first movie for Monday was from 1994 and tells of a virgin hippie who’s almost, in her words, "middle-aged". Her delicate beauty is marred only by her giant hand digits. She has a contract with a prancing drag queen to model in feminine hygiene advertisements. Leaving behind the flashy scene populated by an asthmatic man and his swinging pals, she hitch-hikes across the country to the beauty farm owned by her drag queen friend. At the ranch, however, is a pack of rebellious, unwashed girls who start a riot against her friend and one of his employees - someone hired in an authoritative position at the ranch.

This movie was "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues", written and directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Uma Thurman, John Hurt and Rain Phoenix. The script was based on the novel by Tom Robbins.

Answer to movie number two:

The second movie for Monday was from 1964 and tells of a man who has been campaigning for many years in the bleak frontiers of a major city in Europe. He is dying and he knows it and he intends to disinherit his unreliable son but neglects to do that. One man who can, but who will not, claim the succession, instead supports the son who is an old wrestling club chum of his. While the campaigner has failed in his intentions to assure the continued peace and prosperity of the city, his daughter is a desperately unhappy witness and subsequent victim.

This movie was "The Fall of the Roman Empire", directed by Anthony Mann and starring Alec Guinness, Sophia Loren and Christopher Plummer. The script was written by Ben Barzman, Basilio Franchina and Philip Yordan. The musical score received the only Academy Award ® nomination for this movie.

The first movie for today is from 1950 and tells of an ex-longshoreman attending a convention in the western United States. He meets a woman from the opposite side of the country at the convention. He is proud of his rough and ready background while she, holding the same job as he does, hence them both attending, is equally as proud of her education and her dedication to those who elected her into the position she now holds. In such close proximity to each other, they are thrown together and find that opposites do, indeed, attract. Their joint escapades throughout the convention get them both into trouble back at their respective homes.

The second movie for today is from 1993 and tells of a waitress who is married to a man who is a drunken lout. Her son-in-law is an aspiring make-up artist who pals around with a man who runs a pool maintenance service and who is frustrated and disturbed by his wife’s career. Meanwhile, another couple meet a surgeon and his painter wife at a concert. One of them takes a leisure trip with his buddies and they discover a dead, naked woman in a stream. Their lives, and those of many others, overlap and intertwine until a natural disaster shakes up everyone and everything involved. The answers will be in Monday's edition. Good luck.
