Answer to movie number one:

The first movie for Thursday was from 1949 and, based on a story by one of the cast, tells of a group of people and their chase for a priceless piece of jewellry. Involved are a private eye, a continental person who would stop at nothing to obtain the jewels and a kleptomaniac who doesn’t talk to anyone. Also involved is a group of entertainers who don’t have much money and whom the kleptomaniac feeds by making daily journeys to a food store to obtain food. Others pursue the small group across rooftops, through blinking electricly-lit advertising signs and many other hair-raising escapades.

This movie was "Love Happy", directed by David Miller and starring Groucho Marx, Chico Marx and Harpo Marx, on whose story the script was based. The script was written by Frank Tashlin and Mac Benoff.

Answer to movie number two:

The second movie for Thursday was from 1997 and tells of a wild-eyed transport worker in the eastern United States as he rants and raves about many diverse plots being perpetrated by everyone in power. He meets one girl whom he voyeuristically watches using some assistance. He barges into her office in a government department one day, again ranting and raving, and it becomes clear the man has a serious problem with his thought processes. Releasing a newsletter about his thoughts, he is torturously interrogated by a deadly serious official. He manages to get away but then a cat-and-mouse game begins between him, a Federal Agency and the woman he went to visit.

This movie was "Conspiracy Theory", co-produced and directed by Richard Donner and starring Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts and Patrick Stewart. The script was written by Brian Helgeland.

The first movie for today is from 2002 and tells the continuing story of an actor who is currently involved in the making of a major motion picture - about him and his exploits. He is also about to receive an award for his selfless service to the empire. He hopes that this will make his father finally show some love towards him - but that isn’t to be. His father doesn’t attend the award ceremony, which triggers painful memories of his son’s lonely graduation from an academy he had earlier attended. He learns that his father has been kidnapped and taken back in time and it is up to him to rescue the man.

The second movie for today is from 1960 and tells of a woman who works at a telephone answering service and who gets passionately involved in the lives of her clients. She gets so involved that she starts passing on advice to them but there is one with whom she falls in love. He is a hapless playwright but there is one drawback - he only knows her as an old woman’s voice and by a different name to her real one. What would he think of her if he met her in real life is a big worry she has but, when they do meet face to face, he finds he has feelings for her, also. This movie is based on both a book and a play. The answers will be in Thursday's edition. Good luck.
